Safe School Ambassadors
SSA is one of the top anti-bully programs in the nation. I believe in this program so much, I quit my full time teaching job (at the end of the school year of course) to teach and train this program in schools across the country!
The Safe School Ambassadors program relies on social norms change and the power of students to help stop bullying and violence.
The program harnesses the power of the socially-influential leaders, the ones who shape the social norms that govern other students' behavior. These "alpha" leaders are carefully identified through student and staff surveys. They are selected based upon specific criteria, such
as: strong position and influence in their peer group, good communication skills, and a history of standing up for friends.
The recruited students participate in a two-day interactive training along with several adults who serve as program mentors. The training gives student Ambassadors the motivation and skills to resolve conflicts, defuse incidents, and support isolated and excluded students. After the training, small group meetings of Ambassadors are held every few weeks. These meetings, led by the adult mentors, provide time for strengthening skills, support data collection and analysis of Ambassador interventions, and help sustain student and adult commitment to the program.

RELATIONAL AGGRESSION
In girl world, it can often feel like hate divides us, mean reigns supreme and competition can be cruel. I tackle the issue of relational aggression (using relationships as a weapon to harm) among girls in a fun but meaningful way.
Through an engaging and interactive program your group will:
- Learn how to recognize relational aggression (mean girl behavior) among their peers.
- Understand what role they play in their friendships.
- Identify their individual insecurities that may trigger mean girl behavior.
- Discover how to resolve conflict with other girls.
- Learn how to cultivate kindness in a mean girl world.
- Be challenged to put to practice what they have learned through fun interactive activities.
- Take Combat Mean pledge.
- Leave with a bag of swag.
Beauty and the Beast
Have you ever been mistreated by a "mean" girl? You know, ignored, a rumor spread about you, talked about behind your back? We've all been hurt by another female at one time or another and if we are honest, we've all been the one to do the hurting. The truth is, we have just to look at the reflection in the mirror to see the face of a mean girl. As females, we have a natural instinct to compete with each other. Some competition can be healthy but often our own insecurities get in the way and we can turn from a beauty into a beast.
We are called to be kind and to love one another as christians. The Bible is chalked full of wisdom addressing the topic of bullying and relational aggression. Your group will...
- Learn what God says about bullying and “mean” girl behavior.
- Recognize the different roles in relational aggression and what part they may play.
- Identify individual triggers that can cause them to use their relationships as weapons.
- Gain the tools to positively resolve conflict with each other biblically.
- Develop confidence vs perfection.
- Learn how to cultivate kindness in a mean girl world.
- Be encouraged to let go of the beast and embrace the beauty.
- Take Combat Mean pledge.
- Leave with a bag of swag.
- This works best as a full day workshop or 1-2 day retreat, with a workbook, small group discussions and interactive activities.
- There is a version appropriate for public schools/clubs and events.
Words Matter
The average person speaks about 16,000 words a day. How are your words being used? Do they tear others down or build them up? Are they kind or cruel? Do they encourage or discourage?
Your group will:
- Learn to recognize the power their words have, both positive and the negative.
- Be challenged to take an internal look at how they are using their words on a daily basis.
- Identify triggers that may contribute to unkind words.
- Learn how to express feelings and emotions in a healthy way
- Discuss the power of words on social media and how to use it responsibly.
