"I have known Shaylene King for many years and in many capacities. I first met Shaylene as a summer staff counselor at our camp. Even as a young woman Shaylene distinguished herself by her tender compassion for young people while possessing of vision for equipping them with words of hope, encouragement and truth. She also, collaborated to create an outreach ministry for high school and college aged young women called REFLECTIONS. In more recent years she has trained our staff to recognize bullying and other relational issues so that they can be addressed quickly and appropriately. Shaylene’s determination to reach the next generation with a message that everyone deserves the right to be heard, valued and respected is making a tremendous difference in our community. Her message is one that young people need to hear and are longing to hear."
"Shaylene has a passion for creating positive self image, compassion and understanding within our youth. As a Safe School Ambassador presenter, Shaylene was quickly able to break down teenage walls and get students to really talk about their feelings and what's happening in the world around them. Even more impressive was Shaylene's ability to get those same teenagers to ACT on those feelings and the instances of kindness they witness on a daily basis. Shaylene was relatable, positive and helped to foster a feeling of inclusion, self worth and 'do the right thing' on campus."
"The Safe School Ambassador program is one of our school's highlights. Ms. King trained our students and staff with the kind enthusiasm and honesty that allowed participants to engage with peers effectively while taking personal risks. It was a beneficial experience all the way around."
"As the parent of four, I have often been faced with issues of relational aggression. After a particularly challenging situation with one of my daughters arose, I sought out The Mean Girl Extinction Project as a resource for tools to help myself and my daughter handle the situation. To to better understand and identify relational aggression, Shaylene took the time to meet with me. She helped me to recognize some of the legal actions I could take as a parent and how to best advocate for my daughter. In addition, I was able to bring Shaylene’s Combat Mean workshop for girls to the school my daughter attended. I am thankful for Shaylene and The Mean Girl Extinction Project!"
"My name is Michelle. When my daughter was in 5th grade,
her elementary school got Shaylene in and they offered the girls the opportunity to join the kind club. Shaylene and the kind club came into my daughters life at the right time, she was struggling with friendships as we recently moved and she had to start over with making friends.
My daughter learned through the program how your actions can effect others as well as tools for dealing with bullying. And in general how to be a good friend.
As a parent I am so grateful that she had this opportunity even now in 7th grade she is still applying the techniques she learned.
From the bottom of my heart thank you Shaylene."

COMBAT MEAN SEMINAR:
"A great seminar for our Girl Scout troop on how to handle a peer when being bullied or harassed. The approach was age appropriate and used kindness techniques to tackle a difficult situation. It left the girls with a great message that when feelings are hurt, sometimes it will leave an irreparable mark on that person."
